There’s a bridge near the lake where a few small islands sit close to the edge. One of them has a single strong tree that always catches my eye. Sometimes I’ll see kids fishing through the reeds, their laughter mixing with the sound of water and wind.

I’ve always felt a connection to this tree, though I didn’t know why at first. Later, while looking through a book of Andrew Wyeth’s paintings, I saw a familiar strength in one of his trees. The feeling in his work stayed with me for years, and I think that emotion is what finally brought WyeTree to life.
