INTAKE, Communiques from the Subconscious Series

This painting came from a group session meant to let the subconscious speak through drawing. The prompt was simple: draw a person. I was told that people usually draw someone of their own gender. I added my cat to the sofa beside the woman, not realizing why.

During the review, others noticed what I was unaware of.  The woman had no eyes, and the cat had no mouth. Together they seemed to form one being. The woman could rest only because the cat stayed alert. It was hard to look at, but it felt like a rare glimpse into what lies beneath the surface.
