As I stood in the quiet light of an early Southern California morning, I watched the eucalyptus grove shimmer with soft grays, burgundy, olive, and violet that changed as the sun slipped through smooth bark. I felt peaceful and alert at the same time, surrounded by that mix of calm air and bright scent that only these trees have.

What captivated me was  the rhythm of their stillness.  How they are be both strong and graceful, swaying with the wind, yet steady.
